Alright, here we go!

This is my first time blogging, and I’ll share random thoughts and projects. While I’ve had a blog before, it was only ever meant as notes for myself and therefore rarely updated. I’m hopeful this one will fare better. I already have a (real) first post lined up!

Getting started from a blank page is hard. I reviewed blogs I admire (Simon Willison, Eugene Yan, Maggie Appleton, Geoffrey Litt, and others) to see how they structure things. I don’t have a lot to say about myself, so keeping my bio short at the top of the homepage rather than a separate About. And I’m leaving the structure simple for now with lists of writing and projects, but I really like the TIL from Simon Willison for quick findings and Notes from Maggie Appleton for unformed ideas.

For the stack, I’m using Astro for the first time, which hopefully ends up being a good choice. It is built for content-heavy sites like blogs, optimizing for static content (like most of my posts will be) while still allowing for explicitly enabled dynamic bits. I’m hosting it on Cloudflare Pages. While it’s fully static right now, I may want to add some interactivity in future.
